Adr1ft is a space survival game being brought to us by indie developer Three One Zero that leaves players stranded in outer space after a space station has been destroyed by some catastrophe.
Adr1ft is a game that has strong comparisons to the film Gravity, starring the one and only Sandra Bullock as she tries desperately to get safely back to earth after being involved in a collision that killed the rest of her crew. Although the strongest comparisons can be seen in Gravity, the game also takes direction from other great space films like 2001 and Interstellar.
Adr1ft has been confirmed to be just 4 hours long, and will be priced at roughly $20 to $30, which isn’t that bad if you ask me. The developer has said that the experience should be looked at as akin to going to an IMAX film and buying concessions, after which you will have spent roughly the same amount as the cost of the game.
Interestingly enough, most of the music in Adr1ft was created by the game’s creator Adam Orth who has an extensive musical background. If that wasn’t cool enough, the band Weezer has helped as well. One of the band’s members played the piano score that you can hear on the an audio log in the game. They’ve also announced that Rivers Cuomo will be in the game, but they aren’t yet saying in what capacity.
Adr1ft is scheduled for a tentative release sometime in Summer 2015 for PC and PS4. No word yet on an Xbox One release.
