Blizzard, the very popular gaming company, have officially announced that they are doing away with the name “Battle.net” for the multiplayer services in their games. Nothing will really change about their service, for now, but “more changes are on the way.”

In Blizzard’s blog post, which you can find here, they explained that they’re changing the name of their service for a few reasons, but one of those being “occasional confusion.” People would sometimes get confused that “Battle.net” and “Blizzard” were associated. This is not the main reason, but it is one of them.

Blizzard have been attacked a lot lately by a big hacking group “Lizard Squad”, leading to their servers for popular games being down. With this new update, we’re left wondering whether this will also take the servers down, adding to gamers frustration.
