ESPN, a massive sports streaming company, have stated that they will no longer support their app for the Xbox 360. The app allowed users to stream ESPN channels from the comfort of their home. The complete shutdown will begin on March 23. The news came from a notification on the 360’s app which tells the user to use the new Xbox One app.
The Xbox One’s ESPN app has a lot of features that the Xbox 360 didn’t have. The app supports snap which means you can watch your sports, whilst playing your usual Xbox games. The new app also features ESPN Fantasy Football integration. This lets you see all of the player’s stats, and other such things.
If you still use the ESPN app for the Xbox 360, you will have to either upgrade to the Xbox One to watch your sports, or watch it through a service such as Amazon Fire or Roku. With the recent announcements into the backwards compatibility on the Xbox One, this is yet another reason why the Xbox 360 is going to not be used by anyone in the near future. With that in mind, I will try to play my Xbox 360 as much as possible, until there is no use for all it’s features.
