Kickstarter has helped a handful of game developers with funding their games. Game companies such as Frontier Developments, Descendent Studios, inXile Entertainment has turn to Kickstarter to raise the funds to help bring their projects to life.
Former Konami developer Koji Igarashi has launched his own Kickstarter campaign that will return him to the genre of Castlevania: Symphony of the Night game style.
Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night is a 2D explorer/action game that runs off of the Unreal Engine 4 engine. The game is being developed for the Xbox One and the Playstation 4 by Inti Creates who has experience in Kickstarter console games such as Mighty No. 9 and Shantae: Half-Genie Hero.
In Koji Igarashi pitch video he explains,
“For years, I have wanted to continue exploring and refining this genre. Publishers of the world told me that gamers no longer care for this style of game,” said Igarashi as he angrily throws a wind glass to the floor. “But I know they are wrong! I need your help to bring my vision to life!”
Koji Igarashi wants to prove consumers wrong with the demand for Bloodstained. Almost an hour after Koji’s Kickstarter campaign was launched; the campaign raised $169,000 out of its $500,000 goal with 32 days remaining.

As I write this story, I went back over to Koji’s Kickstarter Campaign and Koji Igarashi has now risen to $853,319 with 11,284 backers and still 32 days to go.
