While the Nintendo Switch is an incredible achievement for the company—minus many of the hardware issues going around—it’s still one very impressive piece of gaming ingenuity. One key flaw everyone noticed before its launch, was with the console’s battery life, now if you’re the type who doesn’t take his or her switch on the go, then this isn’t much of an issue. Yet we recommend you check out our latest article on The Switch regarding a warping and overheating problem.

The Nintendo Switch’s battery life is at best given you up to at least 2.5 to 6 hours of play time before needing to be charged again. Many have tested how long The Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild can go on before shutting down, and most clocked it at a total of 2 1/2 hrs to 2 hours and 50min of play time. Due to this unwanting problem, an IndieGoGo campaign has surfaced introducing the SwitchCharge, this unique hardware works as a charging cradle that promises a full 12 hours of battery life—not a concrete number, but it promises on allowing for an extensive playtime and not having your Switch shut down after just 3 hours.

Although not yet officially launched, The campaign seeks for a total of $80,000 in donation to fund the project. Their tiers are offering discount prices of $75, $85, and $95, these tiers will only be available for a limited time or when they’re out of stock. The people behind the project conducted their own SwitchCharge beta tests and recorded flawless battery hours, see the results of the game’s tested below:

  • The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild: 10hrs 40mins
  • 1-2-Switch: 12hrs 55mins
  • Fast RMX: 13hrs 20mins
  • Snipperclips: 13hrs 30mins
  • Shovel Knight: 14hrs 15mins

While only The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild received less than 12 hours recorded, it still clocks a far impressive 10-hour play than a mere 3. Smaller games such as Shovel Knight exceeds phenomenal with 14+ hours. As of now, the campaign is yet to go live, some say Nintendo is working on their own portable charger, whatever may be the case, this projects looks to be getting a strong reception.
