Today – Monday, August 29th, 2016 – Apogee Software teams up with Mad Unicorn Games and Zettabyte Marketing to announce their next title: Radical Heroes: Crimson Crisis™!
Crimson Crisis is nothing short of a crazy, out-of-the-box Brawler game that adds a fresh take on the “Retro” genre. How does it do this, you ask? Well – Apogee and Mad Unicorn stuff this game with impressive 2.5D “beat ’em up” action, an awesome story, and insane, high-speed gameplay. While being inspired by games like River City Ransom, TMNT: The Arcade Game, Streets of Rage™, and X-Men, Radical Heroes pushes you along to fight your way to survival and navigate through 6 maze-like city levels.
There are 40 playable characters in the game, but the story is as follows – Your name is Diesel, and you are a large, bald, “everyman”, of sorts. When violent crimes break out in his hometown of Crimson City, he begins searching for answers. Soon enough, though, he realizes that the situation was not as he had anticipated.
To build this game, Mad Unicorn needed an engine that could really do it justice. Not some random, run-of-the-mill software that can be run on a potato. Crimson Crisis required some Tender Loving Care… yeah, that’s right – they built their very own engine, dubbed the “Super D-Tek”. Noah Doyle, President of Mad Unicorn Games adds, “Radical Heroes™ is our love letter to games from the 80’s and 90’s…” – and frankly, I couldn’t agree more.
Wait! Just one last thing. Are you wondering if you can help Mad Unicorn with their spectacular project? You can! The developer has announced a Kickstarter campaign that launched today! Feel free to contribute a few bucks (or more), to ensure smooth production! Oh, and of course, backers will be duly rewarded!
