Nintendo announced today the “Expansion Pass” for The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. The pass will be priced at $19.99 USD and will grant you the access of two upcoming DLCs due this summer and holiday season.

On launch day (March 3rd, 2017) players will get the chance to purchase the pass. The moment the pass is purchased, the player would receive three new treasure chests appearing in the game’s Great Plateau area. From what has been confirmed, one of the chests will contain a Nintendo Switch logo shirt and the other two “will deliver useful items”.

1st DLC (Summer): includes the addition of a Cave of Trials Challenge, a new hard mode, and a new feature for the in-game map

2nd DLC (Holiday 2017): will add new challenges that’ll allow players to tackle a new dungeon and new original story.

Nintendo stated the following on the explanation for the series’ first-ever DLC:

“The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild for the Nintendo Switch and Wii U consoles is one of the largest, most engaging video games Nintendo has ever created. While the main game offers players an engrossing quest that will keep them entertained for hours, as well as the freedom to explore the vast Hyrule at their own pace, the game world provides a rich canvas that offers the opportunity for additional adventures. As a result, the first-ever downloadable content for the main-line Legend of Zelda series is in development.”
