Since the console launched back in November of 2013, the PlayStation 4 has reached over 40 Million sales worldwide. Sony have also revealed that the big sales should continue to accelerate for quite some time.
Last January, Sony told us that sales had reached 35.9 Million. That’s an increase of 4.1 Million. They also said that their yearly revenues for PlayStation have gone up by around 12%. Sony have claimed this is partly because the sales of digital software bought on the PlayStation store have increased.
The revenue from PlayStation Network has also gone up from around $3.2 Billion to $4.9 Billion. You can see how the PlayStation 4’s sales have helped that on the chart here:
All in all, the PlayStation 4 is a highly successful product with the sales reaching half of what the predecessor, the PlayStation 3, in a short space of time. There is no doubt in my mind, however, that Sony will reveal a more powerful console at E3 this year.
