Even if you’ve only got a small interest in Pokemon, you were probably still waiting on the release of Pokemon GO, Niantic’s augmented reality Pokemon game, with bated breath. Well, the moment you were waiting for is finally here. Pokemon GO released quietly this morning… to Japan, Australia and New Zealand only.
Why must you tease me like this Nintendo?
The game is set to launch in North America later this week, and European audiences are expected to have it a few days after that. No word yet on the release dates for the rest of the world. However, if you truly can’t wait until then, cracked versions of the game are already popping up. These are available to download anywhere in the world. Just don’t expect them to be nearly as polished as the real thing. The Pokemon GO Plus won’t be available for purchase until the game launches worldwide, either. This device would allow players to catch wild Pokemon without ever looking at their phone, and will retail for $35 USD upon launching.
We’ll bring you a full review of Pokemon GO once it launches in the west.
