French video game distributor might have revealed the launch time of the mid-generation upgrade for the PS4. Also, further details on behalf of the PS4.5 (Codename: NEO) specs were also announced by Sony.
The French distributor Innelec Multimedia posted an interesting financial result that included details regarded the awaited PS4 NEO. In its report which spotted by French site Otaxou (translated by Video Gamer) states:
“The fiscal forecast for 2016/2017 should be pushed by the videogame industry, during the first semester, with the arrival of the PS4 Neo 4K, an evolution of Sony’s PS4 console with new features and the release in October 2016 of the virtual reality handset the Sony VR.”
The PS4 NEO could likely be set ahead of the PlayStation VR release time. Reports show the console is rumored to be announced before the release of the PSVR, many speculate an announcement at this year’s E3 event which is now a month away. The PS4 NEO is known to be an upgraded version of the standard PS4. Modified with all new improved GPU, higher memory bandwidth, higher clock frequency at an 800MHz and it will also support 4K image output. This would mean that games released after the PS4 NEO would include an “NEO Mode”, which improves performance, however, all games will still be required to work on the original model.
Sony has still yet to officially announce the PS4 NEO. However, with the months closing in on its possible release date, are you planning on making the upgrade? let us know.
Updated: The French video game and multimedia distributor Innelec have now retracted its faulty statement that was released. stating:
“Innelec denies any official information about the launch of a PS4K Neo.
it’s possible that during the fiscal year 2016/2017, some evolutions could happen on the current PS4, but we don’t have any information about their nature for the time being”
It appears we were all duped, and quite possibly someone at Innelec has lots of explaining to do. Now we wait.
