I would say it was a gamble to think Rainbow Six Siege was to become a global hit with shooter fans and gamers in general. It has spanned a wide range recognition through eSports, and shooting fans all across the board—Ubisoft clearly hit the nail since the release of the game now a little over two years ago. Today, the game sees the launch of a new awaited expansion titled; Operation White Noise, it’s also celebrating the surpassing of 25 million lifetime players from all platforms—a well-deserved accomplishment if you ask me.
For a game that fumbled around release time, the feedback from the community made this game a great example of how community and developers can hear each other out in making Siege what it has become today.
Here’s what Brand Director of Siege Alexandre Remy had to say of today’s set achievement:
Player investment has been core to the success of the game with longevity being always very important to us. As the game progressed, we continued to develop it with the community in mind. We’re thrilled to see that the community has embraced the game, brought along their friends, and really pushed our understanding of what’s possible with what we’ve created.
Today also marks the release of the game’s newest expansion; Operation White Noise. This new expansion adds new add-ons that include Mok Myeok Tower Map set in South Korea. It also introduces three new operators ; Dokkaebi, Vigil, and Zofia—each of course set with their own signature weapon. As with every new expansion, those who have purchased the Year 2 Season Pass of Siege will be able to play the new content today, those who aren’t, will simply have to wait until next week on December 12th.
