Former co-founder and CEO of Playdead (Inside & Limbo) Dino Patti announced that with their collaboration with feature film animator Chris Olsen—both have announced their new UK-based studio Jumpship and their new title game and a long time “passion project” to Mr. Olsen called Somerville.
The project began back in 2014 as a side-project for Olsen, who at the time was a full-time employee as a character animator for Ninja Theory’s Heavenly Sword, and has even worked on films such as Avengers: Age of Ultron and Skyfall. Fast-forward to today and Olsen has built a playable prototype and a short concept trailer for the upcoming game.
We’re still left out of the loop of what the game is fully about, but here’s a short excerpt to get an idea.
A Sci-Fi Action Adventure that chronicles the lives of key individuals in the wake of a global catastrophe.
Olsen released the following statement in regards to today’s announcement — Also check out its new teaser trailer down below:
“It’s taken many early rises and late nights crafting this passion project of mine, and it’s a dream come true to be given the opportunity to bring others on who can help to make Somerville everything it can be. Dino is a great collaborator and his pedigree challenges every facet of the process. We’re excited to show you what Jumpship has to offer.”
Jumpship’s Somerville as of now has no specific release window — as of now the studio is still growing in scale and is expected to grow by 8-people by the end of this year.
