Bandai Namco announced Tekken 7 will officially launch on June 2nd, 2017. The game was previously pushed to “early 2017”, obviously June time isn’t quite early into the year, but I guess E3 time will do for die-hard fans. Series producer Katsuhiro Harada stated in a recent press event in Tokyo the following via Gamespot:
“We were trying our best to get the game out at that time [Early 2017], to get it into the hands of users as early as possible. We saw some titles–some from our own company and some from others–which didn’t have a very good launch because of a lack of content, or whatever it was, that caused players to bash the product.”
Harada also stated that pushing the game far into mid-year wasn’t an easy choice. Bandai Namco did in fact provided a closer release date, however due to the game’s lack of content the game has now been push to June. Harada has officially apologized for having the game be push until Summer 2017, stating that a June release is “not early”.
T7 will be sold in two versions, a standard copy and a Collector’s Edition. The Collector Edition on the PS4 and Xbox One will include a 12″ by 18″ inch wide statue of Kazuya fly kicking Heihachi mid-air, also a special Steel Book, and the official soundtrack of the game. Pretty nice bundle if you ask me.
By pre-ordering the title now, you’ll be receiving a free DLC access to the famed vampire character; Eliza. Available on all platforms
Pre-ordering the game for the Xbox version, players will receive additional bonuses in the form of a free copy of T6 (digitally, and backwards compatible).
For those on the PS4 side, content such as free legacy costumes from T4 and T2 for the following characters of King, Xiaoyu and Jin. As with a Jukebox Mode where fans can listen to classic Tekken music, even the chance of creating one’s own playlist.
A Season Pass is also confirmed, it’ll include three upcoming content packs that aims to extend the game’s longevity. What’s being confirmed now are new playable characters, stages, game modes, costume packs, and a bonus 35-piece Metallic Costume Pack. Each one of the three upcoming packs will be available separately at individual prices.
